Shadows and Fog

Shadows and Fog (1992) is a black and white film directed by Woody Allen and based on his one-act play Death. It stars Allen, Mia Farrow, John Malkovich, John Cusack, William H. Macy, Madonna, and Kenneth Mars. It was filmed on a 26,000-square-foot set at Kaufman Astoria Studios, which holds the distinction of being the biggest set ever built in New York.

Shadows and Fog is an homage to Fritz Lang, G.W. Pabst and F.W. Murnau, and the German Expressionists.

The movie begins with Kleinman (Allen) being woken up from a deep sleep by a vigilante mob. They claim to be looking for "the strangler", a serial killer who strangles his victims. They tell him to get dressed and meet them downstairs in five minutes. In a flurry, he gets dressed. Before he goes down, his landlady who wants to marry him gives him a small paper bag with pepper in it. "If The Strangler attacks you, blow some of this in his eyes!"

Meanwhile, in a circus on the outskirts of town, Irmy (Farrow) and her boyfriend Peter (Malkovich) are having a dispute. They both are performers at a circus: Irmy swallows swords and Peter is a clown. Irmy wants a baby, but Peter says that "a family is death to an artist." He then goes out and over to another tent where Marie, a tightrope artist (Madonna) waits for him. They begin to have sex, but Irmy catches them. She then packs a suitcase and runs away to the city where Kleinman is living. In the foreboding streets she meets a prostitute (Lily Tomlin) who brings her to a house of ill repute, where she is comforted by other prostitutes (Jodie Foster and Kathy Bates). Then, a student Jack (John Cusack) comes into the whorehouse and is immediately bewitched by Irmy—who he assumes is employed there, and insists on having sex with her, paying a high cost of $700. They go into the back room.

On the street, Kleinman walks aimlessly around the city, not knowing what to do. He stops at a coroner's house, where the doctor (Donald Pleasence) explains that his role in the hunt is purely scientific. He goes into detail about how he will enjoy opening the killer's chest and head, and being able to understand how his mind works. Kleinman drinks a glass of sherry to calm himself down and leaves. Soon after, the doctor realizes the Strangler has entered the house. They calmly speak, then he murders the doctor.

Kleinman goes to the police station to steal back the sherry glass with his fingerprints on it, so it won't incriminate him. Irmy is there as well, because she has been taken to the police station as well when the police raided the whorehouse. She is interrogated by a busy policeman, but, in a careless moment, she slips outside. Kleinman follows her, and they walk into the night together. She tells Kleinman that she doesn't want the money and asks him to give the $700 to charity in a church. He does, finding two men compiling a list of names. When he gives them the money, they gratefully erase his name from the list. Outside, at the steps of the church, they see a starving mother with a child, and the two run away from parent and child. After some thought, Irmy decides she wants to give half of the money to the woman and asks Kleinman to go back to the church to get it back. Reluctantly, he returns and asks for half the money, the two men not only reinstate his name to the list, but they circle it for good measure! Kleinman exits the church, and they both leave in haste.

While they run, Peter arrives in the city, looking for Irmy. He goes into a bar, where Jack, the student who had sex with Irmy, is trying to drink away his sorrow. The student mopes about how he lost the most beautiful woman. The two exchange thoughts about love, and after eloquently describing the woman, Peter figures out that Irmy was his lost love, and leaves the bar.

Kleinman tries to get Irmy a place to stay by asking his fiancée, but she doesn't let them in. They wander some more, until someone walks up to both of them. The person shows Kleinman an alley where they think the killer might be in, and is told to trap the person. Irmy and Kleinman enter the alley warily, and they jump the person. It turns out to be Kleinman's boss Mr. Paulsen, who was considering promoting him, but his mind is changed when Kleinman nearly gives him a heart attack. Ashamed, Kleinman and Irmy again journey into the night. At a pier, they look out at the night, and the feeling is very romantic, until the vigilante mob ambushes them. It turns out that everyone has a "plan". Then, Spiro the Clairvoyant, a man who smells people like a psychic bloodhound, starts to sniff Kleinman. He says that Kleinman is hiding something in his pocket, and the sherry glass is revealed. Angry, and believing he is the killer, the mob chases him away. Irmy is left on the dock. Alone, she meanders. Kleinman tries to find a safe haven in the house of his first ex-fiancée, Alma (Julie Kavner),who he left standing at the altar while he had a dalliance with her sister. He apologizes, but she throws him out, saying, "Get out and die!" He escapes ahead of the mob and goes to the circus.

Meanwhile, Irmy and Peter meet and at first Peter is ready to kill Irmy for sleeping with another man, but they are interrupted by a cry, and find a baby on the ground, the same one that she and Kleinman had seen earlier with the starving woman. They decide to keep it, and leave the city, back to the circus.

Kleinman is hiding at the circus, where he meets the magician Armstead (Kenneth Mars), who he greatly admires. Then, the Strangler arrives, and is about to kill both of them when the magician with a mirror trick, mesmorizes him and manages to chain him up, but while they are congratulating each other, somehow the Strangler escapes. The angry vigilante mob arrives on the scene, and, thwarted, gives up for the night. The movie ends with Kleinman accepting Armstead's invitation to become his assistant, and Irmy and Peter continuing their careers as circus performers, while raising their newfound child. As Armstead and Kleinman prepare to leave, the magician sums it all up by saying, "They need illusions like they need the air." And with a gesture, the two disappear in a mirror and a puff of smoke.

Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is a 2007 superhero film, and sequel to the 2005 film Fantastic Four. Both films are based on the comic book of the same name. The film was directed by Tim Story, who also directed the original. Ioan Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, Julian McMahon and Kerry Washington reprised their roles from the first film. Doug Jones and Beau Garrett appear in the sequel as the Silver Surfer and Frankie Raye, respectively, along with Laurence Fishburne as the voice of the Silver Surfer. It was released June 15, 2007, in North America, and was released onto high-def Blu-ray Disc and DVD on October 2, 2007. It was rated PG by the MPAA for sequences of action violence, some mild language and innuendo.[2] The actual on-screen title of the film is 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and this is how the film is listed by the Internet Movie Database.

Set two years after the first film, Reed Richards and Sue Storm are preparing for their wedding. A silver object enters Earth's atmosphere, radiating cosmic energy that creates massive molecular fluctuations and causes deep craters at locations across the Earth, as well as several anomalies on the planet's surface (Suruga Bay in Japan turns to stone, The Pyramids in Egypt are covered by a snowstorm, and Los Angeles experiences a serious blackout). The US military, represented by General Hager, asks Reed to build a sensor to track the movements of the object. Reed rejects this request saying that he needs to focus on his wedding with Sue. However, he builds the sensor in secret and activates it just before the wedding.

As the wedding begins, Reed's sensor detects the phenomenon approaching New York City, causing a massive power blackout. The object destroys the sensor while the Fantastic Four protect the crowd from an out-of-control helicopter. The Human Torch pursues the object from New York City to Washington D.C., discovering that it is a humanoid, a "Silver Surfer". He confronts the Surfer, only to be dragged into the upper atmosphere. After his flame snuffs out, the Surfer drops him back towards Earth, but he reactivates his powers, survives the fall, and lands in Egypt. Reed's examination reveals that exposure to the Surfer has set Johnny's molecular structure in flux, allowing him to switch powers with his teammates through physical contact. Tracing the cosmic energy of the Surfer, Reed discovers that a series of planets the alien had visited before Earth have all been destroyed.

The Surfer's movements around the globe bring him past Latveria, where the cosmic energy affects Victor Von Doom, freeing him from two years as a metal statue. Doom, able to move again and returned to a disfigured human form, traces the Surfer to Greenland and makes him an offer to join forces. When the Surfer rebuffs him, Doom attacks. The Surfer returns fire, blasting Doom through the ice. The cosmic energy of the Surfer's blast heals Doom's body, reversing the changes seen in the first film. At this time the Fantastic Four travel to London to face the Surfer but one of the newly built craters leads to the London Eye falling. The Fantastic Four succeed in saving the situation but the Surfer flies away while Fantastic Four are occupied.

Meanwhile, Doom leverages his experience into a deal with the American military, who force the Fantastic Four to work with him. Deducing that the Surfer's board is the source of his power, the group develops a pulse generator that will separate him from it. While setting up the device in the Black Forest in Germany, Sue is confronted by the Surfer, during which he reveals he is only a servant to the destroyer of worlds. The military opens fire on the Surfer, distracting him, allowing the four to fire the pulse and separate the Surfer from his board.

The military imprisons the Surfer in Siberia and forbids the Fantastic Four from interacting with him, while they torture him for information. Sue uses her powers to sneak into his cell, where she learns more information from the Surfer. He tells her his master was known by the people of his world as Galactus, a massive cloud-like cosmic entity which must feed on life-bearing planets to survive, and that his board is a homing beacon which even now summons him to the planet.

Doom, pursuing the power in the board, steals it from the compound, using a device to gain control of the board and its powers. This also leads to Doom killing General Hager. The Fantastic Four rescue the Surfer, and pursue Doom in the high flying Fantasticar through the Chinese mountains. Doom, however, is too strong for the Fantastic Four and they crash land in Shanghai. During the battle, Sue is mortally wounded. With the Surfer powerless, Johnny absorbs the combined powers of the entire team in order to battle the cosmic energy-empowered Doom. Johnny succeeds in breaking Doom's control over the Surfer's board, while Ben uses a nearby crane to knock Doom into the harbor where he is last seen sinking; however, Galactus has already arrived. The Surfer regains the control of his board, and his power is restored. He revives Sue and chooses to defend Earth by flying into Galactus and confronting him. The conflict results in a massive blast of energy, seemingly killing Galactus in the process.

The film ends with Reed and Sue marrying in Japan, in traditional Japanese wedding attire; they are again called back to action when Venice is threatened.

The credits cut back to a shot of the Silver Surfer's seemingly lifeless body floating through space. Just as he drifts off the edge of the screen his eyes open and his board races towards him.

Sealed Vision
Get Will Dexter's illustrated "how to" guide on Blindfold Work and the powerful X-Ray Eye Act...
Blindfold Work and The X-Ray Eye Act always leave a profound impression upon an audience. This is probably due to the fact that to a lay audience, it borders on the supernatural. You begin by talking about how some people seem to possess something paranonormal researchers have termed, "Second Sight." You further state that you will attempt to demonstrate how you have developed your own abilities in this area.
To preclude the possibility of subterfuge, you now allow members of the audience to place heavy cotton wads against your eyes and then seal them with surgical tape. To make it even more conclusive, a dark heavy blindfold is placed around your head. However, despite your vision has been completely sealed off, you are able to walk into the audience and read money, credit and business cards, pick colors, name objects, etc

This 2D game, like its predecessors, involves controlling an army of worms and using a collection of weaponry to eliminate the opposing team(s) of worms. The player can play against the computer, or can play against people on the same computer or over the Internet or LAN (TCP/IP and IPX supported). The player can setup many options prior to battling that can make for an interesting challenge.

There are also single-player and multiplayer missions available to help you refine the player’s skills in using the various weapons and utilities. Many believe this to be the high-point of the Worms series. It is also the last game before the jump to three dimensions, introduced in Worms 3D. Some laters games in the series however have reverted to the 2D perspective. One of the best PC games ever

PHP Solutions Dynamic Web Design Made Easy

You want to make your websites more dynamic by adding a feedback form, creating a private area where members can upload images that are automatically resized, or perhaps storing all your content in a database. The problem is, you're not a programmer and the thought of writing code sends a chill up your spine. Or maybe you've dabbled a bit in PHP and MySQL, but you can't get past baby steps. If this describes you, then you've just found the right book.
; ;

Why PHP

PHP and the MySQL database are deservedly the most popular combination for creating dynamic websites. They're free, easy to use, and provided by many web hosting companies in their standard packages. Unfortunately, most PHP books either expect you to be an expert already or force you to go through endless exercises of little practical value. In contrast, this book gives you real value right away through a series of practical examples that you can incorporate directly into your sites, optimizing performance and adding functionality such as file uploading, email feedback forms, image galleries, content management systems, and much more. Each solution is created with not only functionality in mind, but also visual design.

What is special about this book

But this book doesn't just provide a collection of ready-made scripts: each PHP Solution builds on what's gone before, teaching you the basics of PHP and database design quickly and painlessly. By the end of the book, you'll have the confidence to start writing your own scripts or&8212;if you prefer to leave that task to others--to adapt existing scripts to your own requirements.

You don't need to be an expert

Right from the start, you're shown how easy it is to protect your sites by adopting secure coding practices. The book has been written with an eye on forward and backward compatibility--recommending the latest PHP 5 techniques, but providing alternative solutions for servers still running PHP 4.3. All database examples demonstrate how to use the original MySQL extension, MySQL Improved, or the PHP Data Objects (PDO) introduced in PHP 5.1, letting you choose the most suitable option for your setup.

The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring is a 2001 fantasy film directed by Peter Jackson. It is the opening installment of the Lord of the Rings film trilogy, based on the similarly titled first volume of J. R. R. Tolkien's epic literary fantasy, The Lord of the Rings. Set in Middle-earth, the story tells of the Dark Lord Sauron, who is seeking the One Ring. The Ring has found its way to the young hobbit Frodo Baggins. The fate of Middle-Earth hangs in the balance as Frodo and eight companions form the Fellowship of the Ring, and journey to Mount Doom in the land of Mordor: the only place where the Ring can be destroyed.

Released on December 19, 2001, the film was highly acclaimed by critics and fans alike, especially as many of the latter judged it to be sufficiently faithful to the original story. It was a box office success, earning over $870 million worldwide, and the second highest grossing film of 2001 in the U.S. and worldwide (behind Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) which made it the 5th highest grossing film ever at the time. Today it is the 14th highest grossing worldwide film of all time. It won five BAFTAs, including Best Film and Best Director. The Special Extended DVD Edition was released on November 12, 2002. In 2007, The Fellowship of the Ring was voted number 50 on the American Film Institute's list of 100 greatest American films.

The prologue, spoken by Galadriel, shows the Dark Lord Sauron forging the One Ring which he can use to conquer the lands of Middle-earth. A Last Alliance of Elves and Men is formed to counter Sauron's forces at the foot of Mount Doom, but Sauron kills Elendil, the High King of Men. Prince Isildur grabs Elendil's broken sword Narsil, and slashes at Sauron's hand, separating him from the Ring and vanquishing his army. However, because Sauron's life is bound in the Ring, he is not completely defeated until the Ring itself is destroyed. Isildur takes the Ring and succumbs to its temptation, refusing to destroy it. He is later ambushed and killed by orcs, and the Ring is lost in a river. The Ring is found by the creature Gollum thousands of years later, who takes it underground for five centuries, giving him "unnaturally long life." The Ring leaves him however, and is found by the hobbit Bilbo Baggins, much to the grief of Gollum. Bilbo returns to his home in the Shire with the Ring, and the story jumps forward in time sixty years.

At his 111th birthday, Bilbo leaves the Ring to his nephew and adopted heir Frodo Baggins. The Wizard Gandalf soon learns it is the One Ring, and sends him to Bree with Sam, with plans to meet him there after Gandalf goes to Isengard to meet the head of his order, Saruman. Saruman reveals that the Nazgûl, or Ringwraiths, have left Mordor to capture the Ring and kill whoever carries it; having already turned to Sauron's cause, he then imprisons Gandalf atop Orthanc. Frodo and Sam are soon joined by fellow hobbits Merry and Pippin. After encountering a Ringwraith on the road, they manage to reach Bree, and there they meet a Man called Strider, who agrees to lead them to Rivendell. They agree only because Gandalf isn't there to guide them. After some travelling, they spend the night on the hill of Weathertop, where they are attacked by the Nazgûl at night. Strider fights off the Ringwraiths, but Frodo is grievously wounded with a morgul blade, and they must quickly get him to Rivendell for healing. While chased by the Nazgûl, Frodo is taken by the elf Arwen to the elvish haven of Rivendell, and healed by her father, Elrond.

In Rivendell Frodo meets Gandalf, who explains why he didn't meet them at Bree as planned. In the meantime, there are many meetings between various peoples, and Elrond calls a council to decide what should be done with the Ring. The Ring can only be destroyed by throwing it into the fires (that is, lava) of Mount Doom, where it was forged. Mount Doom is located in Mordor, near Sauron's fortress of Barad-dûr, and will be an incredibly dangerous journey. Frodo volunteers to take the Ring to Mount Doom as all the others argue about who should or shouldn't take it. He is accompanied by his hobbit friends and Gandalf, as well as Strider, who is revealed to be Aragorn, the rightful heir to the throne of Gondor. Also travelling with them are the Elf Legolas, the Dwarf Gimli and Boromir, the son of the Steward of Gondor. Together they comprise the Fellowship of the Ring. The Fellowship set out and try to pass the mountain Caradhras, but they are stopped by Saruman's wizardry. They are forced to travel under the mountain through the Mines of Moria. After journeying partway through the Mines, Pippin accidentally gives away their presence to a band of orcs. The Fellowship then encounter a Balrog, an ancient demon of fire and shadow, at the Bridge of Khazad-dûm. Gandalf confronts the Balrog on the bridge, allowing the others to escape the mines, while he falls with the creature into the abyss below.

The group flees to the elvish realm of Lothlórien, where they are sheltered by its rulers, Galadriel and her husband Celeborn. After resting, they decide to travel on the River Anduin towards Parth Galen. Before they leave, Galadriel gives Frodo the Phial of Galadriel. After landing at Parth Galen, Boromir tries to take the Ring from Frodo, who manages to escape by putting the Ring on his finger and vanishing. Knowing that the Ring's temptation will be too strong for the Fellowship, Frodo decides to leave them and go to Mordor alone. Meanwhile, the rest of the Fellowship are attacked by Uruk-hai. Merry and Pippin, realizing that Frodo is leaving, distract the orcs, allowing Frodo to escape. Boromir rushes to the aid of the two hobbits but is mortally wounded by the orc commander Lurtz, and Merry and Pippin are captured. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli find Boromir, who regrets attempting to steal the Ring and dies. They decide to pursue the orcs and rescue the hobbits, leaving Frodo to his fate. Sam joins Frodo before he leaves, and together the two head to Mordor.

The Lord of the Rings The Return of the King

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is an epic fantasy film directed by Peter Jackson. It is primarily based on the third volume of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings (but also includes material from the second volume), and it is the concluding film in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy. It follows The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers and was filmed simultaneously with them.

As Sauron launches the final stages of his conquest of Middle-earth, Gandalf the Wizard and Théoden King of Rohan step up their forces to help defend Gondor's capital Minas Tirith from this threat. Aragorn must finally take up the throne of Gondor and summons an army of ghosts to help him defeat Sauron. Ultimately, even with full strength of arms, they find they cannot win; it comes down to the Hobbits Frodo and Sam, who themselves face the burden of the Ring and the treachery of Gollum, to destroy the One Ring in Mordor.

Released on December 17, 2003, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King became one of the most critically acclaimed films and greatest box-office successes of all time. It swept all eleven Academy Awards it was nominated for, which ties it with only Titanic and Ben-Hur for most Academy Awards ever won. It also won the Academy Award for Best Picture, the only time in history a fantasy film has done so. It also became the second highest grossing movie worldwide of all time behind Titanic, unadjusted for inflation.[1] The Special Extended Edition, containing 50 more minutes of footage, was released on DVD on December 14, 2004.

The film begins with a flashback of how Sméagol recovered the One Ring, before forwarding to him as Gollum taking Frodo and Sam to Minas Morgul. Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf, Théoden and Éomer meet up with Merry, Pippin and Treebeard at Isengard, now under the Ents' control. They also recover the palantír. Pippin's curiosity gets the better of him at Edoras, and he looks into it: making Gandalf realize Sauron is planning to attack Minas Tirith, and he rides off there with Pippin. In Rivendell, Arwen has a vision of her son and convinces Elrond to reforge the sword, Narsil, that cut the Ring from Sauron's finger long ago.

Gandalf and Pippin arrive at Minas Tirith to find the steward Denethor mourning over Boromir, and Pippin swears loyalty to him. Meanwhile, the Witch-king dispatches his immense orc army, heralding the start of the war. Frodo, Sam, and Gollum begin climbing the stairs nearby. The Morgul army drives the Gondorians out of Osgiliath, and Faramir is forced to take a doomed ride to reclaim the city. Near Minas Morgul, Gollum convinces Frodo to send Sam home on the belief he wants the Ring. At the urging of Gandalf, Pippin lights the first of the beacon signals to Edoras, alerting Théoden and the rest of the Rohirrim and prompting them to ride to Dunharrow to prepare for war. While preparing for battle in Dunharrow, Aragorn meets Elrond, who presents the future King with the newly reforged sword, Andúril. Aragorn then sets off with Legolas and Gimli to brave the Paths of the Dead, to enlist the help of the cursed Army of Dead, and capture the ships of the Corsairs of Umbar. Théoden rides off to war with six thousand Riders, unaware Éowyn and Merry are part of the army too.

The Morgul forces, composed mostly of Orcs, begin the siege of Minas Tirith, and many missiles are traded, while the Witch-king and the other Ringwraiths on their Fell Beasts also attack. They break into the city using the enormous battering ram Grond. At the same time Gollum betrays Frodo to the large spider Shelob, but Sam returns to fight her off. Sam believes Frodo is dead and takes the Ring from him, but when Orcs from the Tower of Cirith Ungol take Frodo, he overhears that he is still alive. At Minas Tirith, Denethor has gone mad and prepares a pyre for him and the unconscious Faramir. Gandalf and Pippin arrive on scene and manage to save Faramir, but despite Gandalf's best efforts, Denethor dies. The Rohirrim arrive and charge into the Orcs, but the Mûmakil and the Witch-king arrive to rout them. Aragorn finally arrives with the undead on the captured Corsair ships and proceeds to annihilate the Orcs and Mûmakil, while Éowyn and Merry kill the Witch-king. Théoden dies of injuries suffered during the battle, and Aragorn holds the Dead Army's oath fulfilled, releasing them from their curse at last.

Sam rescues Frodo from Cirith Ungol which is mostly empty following a fight between Orcs over the mithril shirt, and they begin the long trek across Mordor to Mount Doom. Gandalf realizes that ten thousand Orcs stand between Frodo at Cirith Ungol and Mount Doom that he might not succeed. Aragorn leads the remaining soldiers to the Black Gate to draw the Orcs away from Frodo's path. Sam carries Frodo up to Mount Doom but Gollum arrives and attacks them, just as the Men of the West furiously battle the Orcs. At the Crack of Doom, Frodo, instead of dropping the ring into the lava, succumbs to its power and puts it on, disappearing from sight. Gollum renders Sam unconscious, seizes Frodo's finger, and bites the Ring off. Frodo charges at him and they both fall over the edge. Gollum falls into the lava flow with the Ring while Frodo hangs onto the edge of the cliff. Sam rescues Frodo as the Ring finally sinks into the lava and is destroyed. The Barad-dûr collapses and the Orcs are killed in the ensuing shockwave and earthquakes. Frodo and Sam are stranded until Gandalf arrives with the Eagles, and they awake in Minas Tirith, reuniting with their friends.

Aragorn is crowned King, heralding the new age of peace, and is reunited with Arwen. The hobbits return to the Shire, where Sam marries Rosie Cotton. Frodo, having finished writing the story of the Lord of the Rings and still exhausted from his quest as the Ring-bearer, decides to leave Middle-earth with Gandalf, Bilbo, Elrond and Galadriel at the Grey Havens, leaving his account of the story to Sam, who peacefully continues his family life.

The Lord of the Rings The Two Towers

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers is a fantasy epic film, directed by Peter Jackson and based on the second volume of J. R. R. Tolkien's book The Lord of the Rings. It was released on December 18, 2002, with a running time of 179 minutes.

Continuing the plot of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, it intercuts three storylines, as Frodo and Sam continue their quest to destroy the One Ring in Mordor and meet Gollum, its former owner. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli come across the war torn nation of Rohan as well as the resurrected Gandalf, before fighting at the Battle of Helm's Deep, whilst Merry and Pippin escape capture and meet Treebeard, the tree-like giant.

The movie was critically acclaimed, although the adaptation was more controversial than the first film. It was an enormous box-office success, earning over $900 million worldwide, outgrossing its predecessor, and is currently the 7th-highest-grossing film of all time. The Special Extended DVD Edition was released on November 19, 2003.

The film begins with a flashback to the first film, as Gandalf slips off the Bridge of Khazad-dûm and fights the Balrog as they hurtle down. Frodo awakes from his dream and continues his journey in Emyn Muil with his trusted and loyal friend, Sam, where they are attacked by Gollum, who wants to retrieve back the "his precious" from the ones who stole it from him, but the Hobbits manage to tie him up with Elven rope. Sam wants to abandon Gollum, but Frodo has pity on him. Needing a guide, Frodo makes Gollum agree to lead them to the Black Gate of Mordor.

In Rohan, the Uruk-hai run with Merry and Pippin captive. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli are in pursuit, following three days of running. They realize they are in Rohan, and Legolas surmises the Hobbits are being taken to Isengard. There, Saruman launches his attack on the country, and at the capital city of Edoras, King Théoden is mentally and physically weak because of the enchantments of his steward, Gríma Wormtongue, who was bought into the service of Saruman. Orcs freely roam the land and kill people including the king's only son Théodred. Théoden's nephew Éomer angrily realizes that Gríma has become Saruman's servant and furiously asks what the "promised price" was. When Gríma glances at Éowyn, Éomer angrily attacks him, but is banished for simply undermining his authority.

Frodo and Sam traverse the Dead Marshes, hiding from a newly seated Ringwraith on his Fell beast. They reach the Black Gate, only to have Gollum tell them there is a less risky path south. Merry and Pippin escape their captors due to Éomer's men who kill all the Uruk-hai, who in turn tells Aragorn of the slaughter, and the Three Hunters find their tracks leads into Fangorn forest. There Merry and Pippin meet an old Ent, Treebeard and a White Wizard. Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli discover this White Wizard is Gandalf reborn, having sacrificed himself against the Balrog. They travel to Edoras on horseback, where they exorcise Saruman's hold on Théoden and banish Wormtongue. Théoden is confronted with his dead son and open war, and decides to flee to Helm's Deep a large fortification which in times of trouble have saved the people of Rohan. Gandalf rides to find Éomer and his Rohirrim, and Éowyn seeks to know Aragorn better.

In Ithilien, Gollum banishes his split personality, and attempts to befriend Frodo and Sam. They also see a battle and are taken captive by soldiers of Gondor. On the journey to Helms Deep, Aragorn soon has to save the refugees from Saruman's Wargs. During the Melee He is dragged by a one of the wolfs and falls off a cliff, the survivors arrive in Helm's Deep grief-stricken. In Rivendell, Arwen is convinced by Elrond that the age of Elves is ending, and she leaves for the West. Elrond ponders whether the Elves should still help Men. Frodo and Sam arrive at Henneth Annûn and meet Faramir, the younger brother of Boromir, who captures Gollum shortly after to learn of the One Ring. Faramir decides the Ring shall go to Gondor, so that he can "prove his quality" to his father. In Rohan, Aragorn awakens, and as he rides back to Helm's Deep, he sees Saruman's army: at least 10,000 strong. When he arrives, there is dismay, and 300 men, some too old or young, prepare for battle. In the midst of despair, a battalion of Elves from Lórien arrive to help them. At Fangorn forest, Merry, Pippin, Treebeard and other Ents hold a Council to decide on what the Ents involvement will be in the upcoming war with Sauron.

The battle of Helms Deep begins, and the Elves manage to hold the Uruk-hai at the wall, but it is blown up and many are killed during the ensuing attack through the breach. The Uruk-hai also manage to break the Gate despite Aragorn and Gimli's best efforts, and they fall back to the Keep. In Fangorn, Treebeard and the other Ents decide not to fight, but once Pippin takes him to the forest Saruman has decimated near Isengard, he is filled with rage. At Osgiliath, Faramir and the Hobbits are confronted by a Ringwraith. As the gate to the Keep is attacked, Gandalf, Éomer, and hundreds of Rohirrim arrive to push back the Uruk-hai, the Ents attack and flood Isengard and Sam and Faramir save Frodo from the Ringwraith's clutches. Sam narrates about how the story must go on, and Faramir frees them. Gandalf and company now know a full war is coming, and hope only rests with Frodo, who has resumed his journey towards Mordor with Sam and Gollum. After his mistreatment by Faramir's men, Gollum's darker nature returns and he considers betraying Frodo and Sam to "her."

Hostel: Part II

Hostel: Part II is the sequel to Eli Roth's 2005 gore film Hostel. The film was released on June 8 in the United States and was later released on June 29, 2007, in the United Kingdom.

Beginning where Hostel ended, Paxton (Jay Hernandez) is roused on a train. He is subsequently questioned by a detective in an Italian hospital regarding his imprisonment and torture in Slovakia. Shortly afterwards, the detective reveals himself as an Elite Hunting client and eviscerates Paxton. Moments later, Paxton awakens from his nightmare, in bed alongside his girlfriend Stephanie (Jordan Ladd) who after pleading with him to report his friends's deaths, discovers his decapitated body in the morning. Meanwhile in Slovakia, a mysterious package is delivered to Sasha (Milan Knazko).

Days later in Italy, art students Beth (Lauren German), Whitney (Bijou Phillips) and Lorna (Heather Matarazzo) are convinced by Axelle (Vera Jordanova) to join her on a spa vacation. The party agrees and travels to a small Slovakian village and checks into the local hostel before retiring to their rooms. During this time, the desk clerk uploads their passport photos to an online auction website, where Todd (Richard Burgi), an American businessman, bids on and wins Whitney, for himself, and Beth, for his best friend Stuart (Roger Bart). Later that night at the village's "Harvest Festival," Lorna discovers that Beth previously inherited a small fortune from her mother following her death, and the girls socialize and drink with the locals, unaware of Todd and Stuart observing them from across the river. Stuart approaches Beth and the two share a friendly if awkward conversation before separating. Lorna, thoroughly inebriated, leaves with Roman, a charismatic local, on a moonlit boat ride. As Roman and Lorna disembark on a secluded shore, Lorna is kidnapped by two of Roman's accomplices.

Beth and Whitney leave the party, while Axelle volunteers to wait for Lorna. The next morning the three girls, assuming Lorna is enjoying Roman's company, travel to the local spa. Meanwhile, a naked Lorna is shackled and hung upside-down by her ankles in a large room by Roman and his accomplices. When the men leave, a woman credited as Mrs. Bathory (Monika Malacova) enters, disrobes, and lays beneath Lorna in a candlelit tub. She rips into Lorna's back with a scythe and showers in her blood, before slitting her throat with a sickle. Back at the hot springs, Beth awakens from a nap and discovers Axelle and Whitney are missing and that her belongings are stolen. As Beth searches the empty spa for her friends, she notices two men stalking her, and escapes into the forest, where she is ambushed by the "Bubblegum Gang" before being rescued by Axelle and Sasha. As Axelle cleans Beth up at Sasha's sprawling mansion, Beth realizes that Sasha and Axelle are responsible for Whitney's and Lorna's disappearances and tries to hide, uncovering a room filled with severed heads, including Paxton's, after which she is kidnapped.

Deep inside the bowels of the factory, a woman applies makeup to sobbing Whitney, who after an unsuccessful escape attempt is strapped to a chair in a barren cell and teased by Todd with a circular saw. Overwhelmed with excitement, Todd accidentally maims her face and in the ensuing panic and revulsion refuses to kill her out of guilt. The security guards, dismayed at the violation of his contract, kill Todd with a pack of dogs. The guards bandage Whitney and show her photograph to other clients in adjoining cells, offering her at a discount. Stuart, now torturing Beth, accepts the offer and kills Whitney. When he returns, Beth tricks Stuart into releasing her and traps him in the chair. After inadvertently activating the alarm, which summons the Elite Hunting security guards, including Sasha, to the room, Beth bargains to buy her freedom with part of her mother's inheritance. When Sasha reminds her that she must kill somebody in order to leave, she castrates Stuart, tossing his genitalia to the dogs and leaving him to bleed to death. Per the contract, she is given an Elite Hunting tattoo. In the closing sequence, Axelle is lured from the the village festival into the woods by the Bubblegum Gang, where she is decapitated by Beth, leaving the gang to play soccer with her head.

Reign Over Me

This article is about the 2007 film. For the song by The Who, see Love, Reign over Me.
Reign Over Me
Distributed by Columbia Pictures, the film is rated R for language and some sexual references by the MPAA and was released on March 23, 2007. The film was released to DVD on October 9, 2007.

Charlie Fineman (Adam Sandler) has completely shut himself off emotionally from the outside world. During the attacks that occurred on September 11th, he lost his wife, three daughters, and the family dog. By chance, Charlie is reunited with his old college roommate, Alan Johnson (Don Cheadle). Alan, a successful but unhappy dentist, recognizes Charlie's grief and attempts to rekindle their friendship and bring Charlie out of his depression.

Charlie uses noise-cancelling headphones and a disheveled, Bob Dylanesque appearance (poofy hair and an unstylish long jacket) to isolate himself from any contact or reminder of the upper middle-class world where he enjoyed life with his adoring family (a wife; daughters age 5, 7, and 9; and a poodle). He tools around Manhattan on a motorized scooter which he uses for quick getaways from unpleasant encounters.[1]

Johnson's situation is the inverse of Charlie's. Charlie gave up dentistry after 9/11, while Johnson leads a partnership with six dentists. Charlie maintains a disheveled appearance and hides in his apartment fiddling with his record collection, playing videogames, remodeling his kitchen or behind a drum kit in a seedy club playing rage rock; Johnson's grooming and apparel and demeanor are so attractive that women are constantly hitting on him at work. Charlie apparently only knows three people: his landlord, an exploitative bar owner and an accountant named Sugarman (Mike Binder), using his interaction with them to enable him to stay isolated. Johnson knows many people but is not emotionally close to any of them, not even his wife Janeane (Jada Pinkett Smith). He never listens to his daughters, gets blown off by his receptionist, and his dental partners refuse to back him when a patient named Donna Remar (Saffron Burrows) threatens a phony sexual harassment lawsuit after he rebuffed her sexual advances in his office. She later tells him, though, that she had gone through a rotten divorce, after she learned that her husband of ten years had cheated on her with another woman for the last five of them, and she has been since unable to recover from her emotional distress. Embarrassed about her sexual advances toward Alan, she drops the lawsuit.

When Johnson spots Charlie for the first time since their college days, it takes him two tries to connect. Johnson is surprised that Charlie doesn't recognize him, and it takes quite a bit of effort to convince him they were once friends. After Johnson is able to convince him, Charlie becomes enthusiastic and they rekindle their friendship, going on nightly outings in the city that upsets Johnson's wife.

Attempts by Johnson to bring up Charlie's dead family result in outbursts of rage and violence from him. The first time, in the seedy bar where Charlie plays the drums in a band, teetotaler Charlie demands "Who sent you?" and throws root beer in Johnson's face. The second time, he trashes Johnson's dental office.[2]

Torn from the love of his family, Charlie becomes depressed and shuts out all the pain with drumming, collecting old LP's and playing the Sony video game Shadow of the Colossus.[3]

Johnson has been trying - inappropriately - to get informal psychological help from Angela Oakhurst (Liv Tyler) by repeatedly following her outside the skyscraper where they both work. Oakhurst is a young female therapist in his office building, and easily recognizes that Johnson's "friend's" situation is really his own. After fruitless attempts to help Charlie himself or set him up with a middle-aged (male) therapist, Alan gets her to take Charlie on when Charlie agrees that he needs help. Their sessions are short, and Charlie ends them the moment she asks any questions about the "thoughts" he's been avoiding. At the end of the third session, Oakhurst warns him that he eventually has to tell his story to somebody if he wants to heal his wounds.

Eventually Charlie finally opens up to Johnson (overheard by Dr. Oakhurst) and shares about his family. Memories of his family rush back into his mind and the sensation becomes too much for him to handle. He gets intoxicated and unearths a gun from a pile of boxes but has no bullets. He goes outside, sees two NYPD officers taking their break in a coffee shop, and points his empty gun at a taxi driver. He knows that the action will draw the attention of the policemen, and he seems to want to be killed (suicide by cop). The two officers confront him, and one pulls his sidearm, prepared to shoot him while calling out to his partner, who ran off. The cop's partner blindsides Charlie, tackling and disarming him, and the two cops slam him against a wall and arrest him. The city decides not to press charges against a "9/11 widower beat up by two cops" but insists on a 3-day psychological evaluation. Charlie is released, thanks to Alan and Angela, but must attend a hearing to determine whether or not he will be institutionalized.

Johnson, Donna, Adell (Charlie's landlord), Oakhurst, and Sugarman all attend the hearing, where the young prosecutor (B. J. Novak) uses pictures of Charlie's family to trigger outbursts from him. He tries to tune the memories out by shouting out the tune of "Love Reign O'er Me" out loud. The judge (Donald Sutherland) recognizes what the prosecutor is doing and begins to believe that the case is largely based on a family dilemma between Charlie and his in-laws (whom Charlie has been avoiding since 9/11), the closest thing to family he has now. The judge gives the power to his in-laws to decide if he should be institutionalized, and warns them of the seriousness of the power he has placed in their hands.
After overhearing Donna saying that he just has a broken heart and that the court doesn't understand that, Charlie hesitantly but forthrightly speaks to his in-laws about "seeing" his wife, kids and even the dog in strangers he encounters - which for him are even more vivid reminders than the photos his father-in-law carries in his wallet.

Finally, Johnson conspires with Fineman to help him move out over the weekend (before the final hearing, which never transpires on screen). Johnson meets the in-laws at the empty apartment, which is spotless and has a beautifully remodeled kitchen, and asks them to let Fineman go. They agree. Then Johnson sets up Charlie with Donna. Johnson calls his wife and discovers that he has hope that he can once again enjoy the company of his family. He then hops on Charlie's scooter, and heads home.

Knocked Up

Knocked Up is a 2007 American comedy film written and directed by Judd Apatow. It stars Seth Rogen, Katherine Heigl, Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann. It is Rated R for sexual content, drug use, and language. About 4 minutes of the movie was cut in order to achieve the R-Rating and avoid the NC-17 Rating.

Ben Stone (Seth Rogen) is a lazy, immature 23-year-old Jewish Canadian slacker in the process of establishing with his friends a website listing nude scenes in film called "fleshofthestars.com. He also happens to live illegally in California, so he does not have to pay taxes; living on a $14,000 settlement after a mail truck ran over his foot. Alison Scott (Katherine Heigl) is a responsible, career-minded woman who gets promoted to be an anchorwoman for E! News Live. One night, while she celebrates her promotion, Alison and Ben meet at a club, get drunk, and end up having sex. Due to a misunderstanding, they do not use contraception: Alison uses the phrase "just do it" to encourage Ben to put the condom on faster, which he misinterprets as "a condom is not needed". When the alcohol wears off, they quickly learn they have little in common during breakfast, in which he disgusts her with his lifestyle. Eight weeks later, however, Alison experiences morning sickness during an interview with James Franco and comes to the discovery that she is pregnant. After trying 15 different pregnancy tests with the same result, she contacts Ben to tell him the news. Taken aback, Ben says he will be there to support Alison having the baby. The odd couple's efforts to develop a relationship include Ben making an akward marriage proposal, without a ring.

After some considerable success at first, tensions surface in the relationship. Alison is increasingly anxious over both Ben's lack of responsibility and paranoid he will leave her, as a result of watching her sister Debbie's failing marriage. Her husband Pete works as a talent scout, but he strangely leaves at odd hours in the night. Upon investigating, it is learned he is part of a fantasy baseball draft, which he explains he needs, to have some time free from her controlling manner. Similarly, Ben feels that Alison is overly controlling, as a result of which the couple separates. Ben and Pete then take a road-trip to Las Vegas. Under the influence of drugs, they realize their loss and decide to return and take responsibility. Ben goes to great effort to change his ways including getting a real job and an apartment with a baby's room. Subsequently, Alison goes into labor and is not able to contact her doctor, forcing her to contact Ben again due to her sister Debbie and Pete's out-of-town trip. Ben also tries to contact Alison's gynecologist, but finds out through his secretary that he is at a Bar Mitzvah in San Francisco. After leaving a hate-filled message on the doctor's voicemail, Ben increases his efforts to find a doctor that will deliver his child. He eventually finds one, but Alison's wishes clash with the doctor's choice for a smooth and safe birth. Ben talks with the doctor, after which he is willing to do it Alison's way. After a while, Alison regrets her insistence and wants it the doctor's original way after all, but it is too late for that now. She apologizes for doubting his committment and admits that she never thought the man she loved would be the one who got her pregnant. A while later, Debbie and Pete arrive, but both are made to wait outside of the birthing room by Ben, who does not want anyone but him and the doctors present at birth. The couple welcomes the birth of a baby girl (a boy in the alternate ending), and settle down happily together.

Meet the Robinsons

Meet the Robinsons is a computer-animated film and the 46th animated feature produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. In the United Kingdom, the 3D version was released on March 23, 2007. It was released in standard and Disney Digital 3-D versions in the United States and in its standard version in the UK on March 30, 2007. It is based on the characters and events in the illustrated book A Day with Wilbur Robinson, by William Joyce. The film originally had the same title as the book. The voice cast includes Jordan Fry, Harland Williams, Tom Kenny, Steve Anderson, Adam West, Tom Selleck, and Angela Bassett. The film is rated G by the MPAA. It was released on DVD-Video and Blu-Ray on October 23, 2007.

The film opens on a rainy night. A woman leaves her baby boy on the steps of an orphanage. Mildred (voice of Angela Bassett), the head of the orphanage, answers a knock at the door, and, seeing no one else outside, takes it in as one of the orphans.

Twelve years later, in the present, Lewis (voices of Daniel Hansen and Jordan Fry), the baby, has become an avid inventor. He has bad luck trying to get prospective foster parents to adopt him. Confident that his mother abandoned him against her will, he attempts to invent a memory-scanner that will give him insight into his past, reunite with his mother, and finally leave the orphanage. He keeps his roommate, Michael "Goob" Yagoobian (voice of Matthew Josten), up every night working, which causes Goob’s Little League baseball team’s performance to suffer.

At Lewis’s school science fair, arranged by his science teacher Mr. Willerstein (voice of Tom Kenny), Lewis is approached by a thirteen-year-old boy named Wilbur Robinson (voice of Wesley Singerman), who claims that he is a "time cop" from the future, and that a man wearing a bowler hat stole a time machine. The sinister Bowler Hat Guy (voice of Steve Anderson), for whom Wilbur is searching, sends Doris (voice of Ethan Sandler), a robotic hat with mechanical arms, to sabotage Lewis’s machine. A hyperactive lab scientist named Dr. Krunklehorn (voice of Laurie Metcalf) judges Lewis’s project. As Lewis begins demonstrating his machine, it explodes, throwing the science fair into chaos. Lewis runs out and leaves his machine, which Bowler Hat Guy steals.

At the orphanage, Lewis goes to the roof, crushed by his "failure". Wilbur appears and tells Lewis to go back to the science fair and fix the machine. Lewis replies that if Wilbur can prove himself to be from the future, Lewis will go back to the science fair and fix the machine. Wilbur agrees, pushes Lewis off the roof onto a flying time machine, and uses it to take them to the year 2037, thirty years forward.

As a result of soaring through a world of flying cars, clean cities, robots, and fascinating machines, Lewis finally believes Wilbur. Lewis then says that he wants Wilbur to take him back to the day he was left at the orphanage, so he can stop his mother from leaving him. When Wilbur refuses, Lewis grabs the steering wheel, but only causes the machine to crash. Wilbur is devastated; he explains that there are only two time machines in existence, both made by Wilbur’s father. One of these is the one Lewis has broken, whereas the Bowler Hat Guy has the other. The two make a deal: if Lewis fixes the time machine, Wilbur will use it to take him back to see his mother.

They take the machine to Wilbur’s family’s garage where Lewis meets Carl (voice of Harland Williams), a talking robot. Carl screams at the sight of him and runs away. Wilbur hides Lewis’ hair underneath a tropical fruit hat, telling him that his hair is a dead give-away that he is from the past, and swears to keep that a secret. Leaving Lewis in the garage, Wilbur reveals to Carl that the deal he made with Lewis was a lie, to buy him some time. Carl agrees to play along with the charade, even though he knows the truth will eventually catch up with him.

Meanwhile, back in the present, Bowler Hat Guy takes the memory-scanner to Invent Co., planning to pass off the invention as his own. Because he does not know how to switch it on, Bowler Hat Guy’s proposal is rejected. Bowler Hat Guy then goes to Lewis’s room to kidnap him, but finds an injured Goob there instead. Goob has been there since he returned from baseball, which he lost and so was beaten for losing by his teammates, though the coach (voice of Don Hall) assured him otherwise. Bowler Hat Guy, on learning of this, gives Goob a speech about holding the sadness inside his heart and converting it to rage. On the roof, Doris finds traces of the second time machine, and the two go forward in time to track down Lewis.

In 2037 Lewis meets Grandpa Bud (voice of Steve Anderson), an old man who always wears his clothes on backwards. Asking Lewis to help him find his dentures, Bud takes him on a tour of the house. Lewis meets the rest of the strange and fun-loving Robinson family, including Bud’s wife, Grandma Lucille (voice of Laurie Metcalf), and the superhero/pizza delivery guy, Uncle Art (voice of Adam West). Finally, Lewis meets Wilbur’s friendly mother, Franny (voice of Nicole Sullivan), conducting her frog jazz band. The lead frog, Frankie (voice of Aurian Redson, singing voice of Jamie Cullum), is shown to be wearing Bud’s false teeth.

Assured him that no one Lewis met knows that he’s from the past, a relieved Wilbur explains that his father is a master inventor and invented practically everything, coining the motto "Keep moving forward". Lewis mentions that his father was the only Robinson family member he did not meet, since he is on a business trip.

Bowler Hat Guy and Doris try to sneak into the house. Doris spawns a miniature bowler hat, which Bowler Hat Guy controls. This "Mini-Doris" finds and takes control of Frankie, but proves to be a bad choice for a minion.

During dinner, Lewis pretends to be an exchange student from Canada. Franny is extremely nice and Lewis finds himself loving everyone very much. When Franny goes to remove Lewis’s hat, Wilbur initiates a kung-fu-like meatball fight between Franny and Gaston as a distraction. Lewis says that he is an orphan and wishes that he had a family like the Robinsons.

For dessert, Carl is about to serve peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches with a machine similar to the one Lewis made earlier. When it breaks, Wilbur has Lewis try to fix it, in order to raise his confidence. Lewis fails, whereupon the entire family applauds, seeing it as an opportunity to try again.

Bowler Hat Guy takes the time machine to the Cretaceous Period and returns with a T. Rex, intending to use it as a pawn to lure Lewis out of the house. The entire family attempts to stop the T. Rex (later named Tiny by the family) (voice of Joseph Mateo) from harming them, but he corners Wilbur and Lewis. Tiny is about to eat Wilbur when Lewis throws a shovel in his mouth to stop him.

When Lewis remarks that he must go, Franny loses her composure and says that she wants to adopt Lewis, whereupon Wilbur quickly knocks Lewis’s hat off. When everyone sees his hair, they are horrified. Franny takes back her adoption offer at once and says Lewis must go. Wilbur explains the situation with the time machines and adds that he never meant to take Lewis back to his mother. Lewis runs away and Wilbur has no one else to trust him.

Alone, Lewis is approached by Bowler Hat Guy and Doris and is told to fix the memory-scanner in exchange for the chance to see his mother. Wilbur tries to stop him; Lewis, still angry, flies off with Bowler Hat Guy.

In a dark room, Lewis repairs the memory-scanner and explains how to use it. He is then tied up by Doris. Bowler Hat Guy turns on the lights, revealing that they are in Lewis’s old room at the orphanage. Bowler Hat Guy reveals that he is Goob grown up. He explains that after Goob lost the baseball game 30 years ago, he suffered long-term depression and remained an orphan. Over the years, Goob blamed Lewis for his misfortune. Simultaneously, Wilbur’s father invented Doris, which he rejected for malfunctions. Doris escaped and found Goob. The two of them then decided to steal Mr. Robinson’s time machine and go back in time to steal Lewis’s first working invention, all because Wilbur left the garage door open.

Lewis suddenly realizes that he is Mr. Robinson himself, and Wilbur's father. It is revealed that if Lewis does not invent the memory-scanner, the future experienced by him so far will not happen. Lewis realizes that his own attachment to his past will, if unbroken, ruin him just as Goob's fixation ruined Goob.

Carl and Wilbur rescue Lewis. Lewis then tells Wilbur that he knows of his own future. They are reconciled. Just as they reach the Robinson house, Doris attacks Carl. Bowler Hat Guy steals the memory-scanner and goes back to the past, and manages to propose the scanner again to Invent Co., where it is a success. The time line is therefore broken and Wilbur is destroyed.

The future is radically changed; Lewis finds the Robinson house empty. On the Memory Scanner's screen, Lewis sees that after taking credit for his invention, Bowler Hat Guy mass-produced Doris-like hats that enslave humanity. The original Doris then attacked her user and killed him.

Possessed by Doris hats, the Robinsons attack Lewis. Lewis climbs into the time machine as the family tries to push it off a ledge. Lewis suddenly fixes the machine and flies away; the entire Robinson house, now a giant Doris, chases after him. Millions of Doris robots also pursue him. Cornered by the Robinsons, Lewis angrily wishes that he had "never invented that stupid hat!" Realizing that he has the opportunity to fulfill this wish, he flies to the boardroom where Goob is about to take credit for Lewis’s invention. Lewis tells him that Doris will betray him, then tells Doris that he will never invent her. At that instant, she vanishes into oblivion.

Taking Goob with him, Lewis returns to the future. Since Goob realizes that Doris was never really his friend, the future is restored back to the way it was. Lewis explains his actions and tells Wilbur to adopt Bowler Hat Guy, only to find that he is gone. Lewis sees his checklist left lying on the grass, with all the previous objectives crossed out. There is a new entry, consisting of a question mark. Lewis finally meets his future self (voice of Tom Selleck), who finally convinces him to go back to the science fair.

Lewis returns, accompanied by Wilbur, to the night wherein Lewis' mother left him at the orphanage. He is about to talk to his mother as she puts the baby down, but stops, realizing that he already has a family. He slips on the stairs and hides, producing the noise that startled her. The mother leaves. It is revealed that it is Lewis who knocks on the door instead of his mother, and to which Mildred discovers the baby.

Lewis returns to the day of the science fair and bids Wilbur farewell, promising to never forget him. Lewis stops to see Goob’s baseball game. He wakes the sleeping Goob in time to catch the ball that wins the game, implying that Goob will never become evil in his own future.

At the fair, Lewis successfully demonstrates his machine to Dr. Krunklehorn. Images are displayed of her wedding to Bud, from which Lewis deduces that Dr. Krunklehorn, his adoptive mother, and Grandma Lucille are one and the same. He bumps into a young Franny, who says that she is training frogs to sing, against all expectations.

Lewis is adopted by Lucille and Bud. They move into a large building named the Anderson Observatory, which will one day be the Robinson residence. Lewis sees the empty room that will be filled with all his inventions and begins building the robot that will be Carl.
